The Empty Bed

I reach out, looking for you.

My hand finds nothing,

no sign of you.

The bed is empty, cold

as untouched

as your heart

after years.

Yet in my mind

you are still here,

your scent lingering in the air,

the bed rumpled and warm,

your hair everywhere,

little traces of your presence

and love

echoing.
