The Ring

Ding!

The bell rings and I stumble back to my corner,

Collapsing on the stool, exhausted.

Blood and tears cover my face, streaming

From red swollen eyes.

Breath ragged, heart racing as I replay

The previous round, the body blows

Taking my breath away and the flash

In the eyes from the fierce attack

Following the low blow that left me stunned.

Hit after hit raining on me,

All angles and sides with no respite.

The pain is deep, overwhelming,

As I slump in the corner, nearly beaten.

Ding!!

I rise to fight

once more.
