The Stockdale Paradox

I will gaze into the empty Void

And fear not the gnawing Darkness.

I will embrace all the bitterness

of Truth and not be destroyed;

I will never abandon Hope

As I look into the black soul.

Though in fear of loss you grope

For the half to make you whole;

Seeing not before thine eyes

The one that completes your flame,

Who stares right through your lies

And adores you all the same.

As you run from your life and past

Fear and pain clouding your sight

Look to the gift from the heart vast

Willing to walk with you in the night.

Though anger and fear and dark may live

In you, no matter what, I forgive.
