Snapshot of Dawn

I tried to take a snapshot of the sunrise,

the sky filled with pink fluff like the dreams

of a five-year-old chasing unicorns.

I missed my chance.

I caught trees and blurred cars,

rushing on their way to work.

I wanted to share it with you, my love.

I failed, capturing only smudges

and hints of the glory,

more a trick of memory,

a passing fleeting illusion

lost on the highway.
