My Desire

There is one thing I crave beyond all else.

Not wealth, for I have that and it means little to me.

Not power, for my crown would rest uneasy

with any more than I now wield.

Fame would bore me,

and healthy I have made of myself

like all other things I possess.

Beauty I appreciate, especially knowing

I will never be classically beautiful

as you are my dear.

One thing lights my fire and stokes it,

making my passion burn as a small sun,

fusion as scientists can only dream of

emitting light for the entire world.

My desire that heats my dreams

and powers my actions is simple:

to bring you happiness.

To make you want to smile,

with that radiance beyond a thousand

stars in the Heavens.

To make your eyes glitter,

sparkling as your lips part in laughter

and your spirit soars.

That is what I want.
