When I Loved You

When I loved you,

The sun did not rise until I saw your radiant smile.

Birds could not make music until

I heard your melodious voice.

When I loved you,

I gave you coffee every morning,

Even if you were a continent away.

Your laughter made me happier than anything,

And your happiness was all that I cared for.

But you don’t love me.

You withhold your smile and your voice,

Torment me with silence.

You use me as a toy for amusement.

Play with my heart and my emotions,

Giving me just enough to hope again,

Because “when I loved you”

Is now.
