I Wish

I wish I could help you remember how beautiful the world can be.

How every sunset is a moving picture painted for you,

And every sunrise coffee for the soul.

I wish you could hear the laughter of children

And not be suspicious or jealous,

Envious of their youth and freedom.

I wish I could make you see yourself through my eyes,

Beautiful beyond compare no matter how flawed you feel.

I wish I could make your eyes sparkle with love again,

The way they used to before the darkness crept in,

Wrapping around your heart and slowly squeezing the joy out.

I want to make the sands run backward, not to recapture my youth

But to remind you of the love of life, to replay the movie

Of our time and when I could make you smile.

I wish.

I want to try to. But to do so I need you to trust me enough to tell me why you see you like you do.
